At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Technical Writer supporting the VA Enterprise Security Architecture (ESA) Modernization Support project, you will be trusted to work actively with GDIT security and Cyber-Security professionals to support our VA customer.

Our mission within the VA is to ensure Veteran’s information, VA information systems and infrastructure is cybersecurity ready. GDIT will accomplish this while ensuring the resiliency of VA’s cybersecurity infrastructure through proactive monitoring, adaptive responses, adherence to Federal requirements and best practices, and the recruitment, retention, and development of a world-class cybersecurity workforce.

The ideal Technical Writer will have professional experience in developing in-depth technical white papers, executive briefings, road maps and policy papers to advance the organization’s mission in setting and defining security policy for the VA. The right candidate will have a wide variety of writing styles and varies and have a solid understanding of security and cyber-security concepts.

This is a fully remote role!

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Work alongside technical and subject matter experts to understand complex technical content so that it can be clearly articulated and communicated to others

• Updating, developing, and maintaining White Papers/Technical Strategies, Concept of Operations, and Network Architecture Designs for Zero Trust, Network Security, briefings on enterprise mobile security and TIC 4.0 Architectures.

• Prepares and edits a wide variety of complex technical materials within cybersecurity for publication, including user’s manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports

• Review, research and edit information for preparation of contract deliverables; provides support to the creation of proposals and multi-media presentation materials, including slides; responsible for the coordination of multiple aspects of document publication

• Participates in the design and development of executive briefings, conference programs and proceedings, public relations announcements, and other materials when requested

• May supervise and direct the work of word processing, graphics and/or technical writing staff; coordinates and attends various conferences and meetings

• Manages the publications schedule for the project at the direction of the chief architect.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Experience

• AA or 2-year technical school. Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

• Must have experience in the edit of narrative and graphic products to identify and correct typographical and grammatical errors and to identify logical inconsistencies that will require author attention

• Must have experience in gathering required data and inputs to create written narrative and graphic documents of a technical and business nature, ensuring grammatical, format, style, and logic while using a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools.

• Must be able to edit highly technical documents involving IT software and hardware systems and networks.

• Must have at least 5 years’ directly related experience in the research and preparation of technical materials.

• Knowledgeable on the principles and practices of technical research, writing, and editing, as well as word-processing and desktop publishing applications and computer equipment as required.

• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

• US Citizenship is required

• Must be able to meet customer facility COVID requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with data security and cyber-security concepts

• Experience managing a group of technical writers working for on multiple technical writing assignment
