Overview and Essential Functions

The Mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA) is to provide benefits to our Veterans that they have earned through military service. Under VBA, the Office of Business Integration (OBI) is tasked with improving, simplifying and accelerating delivery of benefits to our Veterans. In meeting these goals, OBI strives to acquire managed service solutions that are effective and use efficient Information Technology (IT) to achieve desired VBA results. The successful Test Engineer will work closely with the development team to ensure system updates and enhancements are effective and work properly. Your contributions and testing skills will be vital to providing a positive, high quality benefits delivery to our nation’s veterans.

Responsibilities :

You will have the opportunity to contribute on an individual basis as well as demonstrate your strengths as a team player. Your contributions will include:

• Working closely with the Tech Lead, Process Analysts and Developers to develop a solid testing solution, and creating testing architecture that results in regression test scenarios once the feature is deployed

• Leading complex test scenarios using business process automation (like UI Path, etc.) and Ready API for large Agile software projects

• Developing test scenarios for new features based on acceptance criteria and user stories during each development Sprint

• Identifying innovative solutions to solve complex test problems

• Partnering with Agile Release Train to plan for new functionality, resolve defects, and incorporate error injection test methodologies

• Defining test criteria to be used to determine which functionality should be automated

• Auditing test scenarios to ensure process automation meets the specified positive and negative acceptance criteria Required/minimum qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Strong ‘hands on’ experience developing software tests for functional, performance, and regression testing that are based primarily on automated testing, but may include ad-hoc and manual testing elements

• 2+ years’ experience in Functional and Regression testing

• 2+ years developing test scenarios to accurately cover Functional Requirements and Process Maps

• 2+ years’ experience with agile development (preferably SAFe), Test Driven Development

• Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Build and Continuous Deployment Practice, Tools and trends

• Good understanding of QA methodology – test plans, test cycles, and software releases

• Experienced with defect management and tracking tools

• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust

Desired:

• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills

• Previous Department of Veteran Affairs experience

• Experience with Ready API

• Agile team experience;

• 2+ years’ of IT related work experience
