Role Summary/Purpose
This role is responsible for building and executing a strategic meetings management program for GE Vernova, leading strategic sourcing activities across all aspects of GE Vernova’s Meetings & Events spend with the goal to achieve significant initial cost reductions and year-over-year continuous improvement while maintaining or improving supplier quality and service levels. The role provides support in building a team of best-in-class event sourcing and meeting planning talent to foster an environment of strong collaboration and engagement. This role will establish relationships by building trust with internal and external stakeholders and developing and executing strategies to deliver internal and external meetings and events. This role is responsible for Supplier Management and Performance Monitoring related to Meetings & Events spend, including developing processes to manage GE Vernova’s events, meeting planning, preferred vendors, and meetings data. This person should establish and lead strategic sourcing activities in this category to include category strategy and MSA ownership. This role will require coordination with the Business Unit Category Management teams to ensure a cohesive global strategy, coordinating sourcing efforts and policy, and executing initiatives. Partnerships with GE functional stakeholders in Business and Segment Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, and other functions to drive total cost efficiency (TCE) are critical to enable the team to deliver excellent service levels to the organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategies within the assigned spend category, including a strategic meetings management program to develop processes to manage events, meeting planning, preferred vendors, and meetings data
Build and own the relationship with assigned suppliers within the assigned spend category to include the TMC’s meetings & events team, hotels and other event venues, and other suppliers that support meetings & events
Collaborate with business leadership, investor relations, marketing/Brand, HR, or other business partners to deliver events focused on their business outcomes
Collaborate with Compliance to align offerings in accordance with the GE Vernova travel or meetings policies and comply with external regulations
Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to execute global conferences, meetings, and events, including:
Venue sourcing: Determine and contract with suitable locations and venues for GE Vernova leaders to meet with customers and other stakeholders to build strong relationships, foster learning and development or other objectives that result in a successful event
Meeting planning: Support event project plans to meet stakeholder needs including sourcing content, speakers on-site resourcing, and team building opportunities
Partner with IT on meeting technology tools (such as Cvent) and registration processes
Collaborate with Security to on attendee safety and GE Vernova’s duty of care responsibilities for meetings and events
Partner with the Travel & Expense and/or Buy to Pay teams on meeting and event payment processes
Drive benchmarking, best practices, and continuous improvement
Manage corporate sourcing process end-to-end, including hedging strategy and trigger points within the assigned spend category
Lead and manage multi-functional stakeholder teams on specific strategic sourcing initiatives or projects to ensure benefit realization and drive value through supplier relationship management within the assigned spend category
Lead development of best-in-class analytics specifically related to the assigned spend category
Qualifications/Requirements
Significant experience in Sourcing, Operations, or equivalent experience within the assigned spend category
Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time
Demonstrated ability in leading organizational, process, and culture change
Strong experience within the assigned spend category
For roles not in USA, this role requires significant experience comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience), or equivalent experience/ knowledge
For roles in USA, this role requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with significant experience in job family group/function), or equivalent experience/ knowledge
Desired Characteristics
MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Sourcing or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience/ knowledge
Strong experience within the assigned spend category, including strong experience in a global event planning role
Certified Meeting Professional preferred
Inspirational leader, collaborative mindset in working across functional areas
Strong experience in Procurement processes
Strong analytical/problem solving skills
Computer proficiency, and exposure to applicable software (CVENT, Project Management software, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Excel).
Sourcing or Analytics experience in a multinational company
Comfortable with a broad range of research tools and technologies, analytics, and financial analysis
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong project management skills
Thought leader, experience with external benchmarking to drive next level process improvements
Strong track record for implementing change and delivering results
If contracted in the United States:
The salary range for this position is 117,500.00 – 195,800.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a 15% variable incentive bonus. Available health and welfare benefits include healthcare, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage; savings account options (such as a Health Care Flexible Savings Account, Health Reimbursement Account, Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account, and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account); and an employee assistance program.
