Job Description:

About the Database Developer Role:

The database developer role requires a strong foundation in Oracle PL/SQL development and administration. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining database objects and services for applications that use the Oracle database platform. You will develop and maintain PL/SQL code (views, stored procedures) to implement application logic. You will also develop Java code that interacts with those services, running in multiple different execution environments. In addition to new development, you will work with the development team to ensure that best practices are followed when updating the application database structure and code. You will also be responsible for performance tuning of database code in performance test and production environments.

Additional Job Description

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience
• Mastery of Oracle PL/SQL development and best practices for Oracle database development.
• Knowledge of Oracle optimization and performance tuning techniques.
• 4+ years of software development utilizing industry standard design patterns in common languages such as Java. Demonstrated experience with test-driven development techniques (TDD, Junit, mocks).
• Familiarity with Oracle database administration and replication technologies, e.g. Oracle Enterprise Manager, Golden Gate.
• Applied experience with iterative and incremental development on product-focused teams practicing code reviews
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git, Bitbucket) and modern version control for use in continuous deployments
• Familiarity with other SQL and NoSQL platforms, e.g. PostgreSQL, Cassandra.
• Familiarity with 12-factor microservice development patterns
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions
• Strong teamwork focus and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams
