Role Summary
The Director of Applied Analytics, Growth Businesses will lead an analytics engagement team, focused on identifying strategic opportunities to unlock business value through data and analytics. This role will work with the Strategy and Innovation team, EV and EVGRO teams, Information Technology, and other pillars to accelerate the education & adoption of data analytics and data science. This role will be responsible for partnering with the business teams to identify the opportunities with high returns on investments, and executing through their team the creation of re-usable data assets and frameworks to build out capabilities.
This role will be responsible for furthering our enterprise partnership on new growth opportunities, with a focus on insights that identify opportunities with high returns on investments, via hypothesis, experimentation, and proof of concepts. These areas are an emerging intersection for enterprise analytics; as such, this leader will focus on building relationships and problem framing to innovate and expand capabilities and solutions to unique business opportunities. This leader has balance – they strike the right cord of technical leadership and coaching, humbly elevating and advocating for their team – with an equilibrium of storytelling, influence and strategic focus for peers and leaders of supporting functions, enabling them to drive revenue growth. The role reports to the Director, Analytics Innovation.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
The Director of Applied Analytics, Growth Businesses will champion a focus on driving hypothesis generation, insights, and experimentation, providing strategic thought leadership in shaping and executing analytics, data science, AI/ML and insights strategy for partner businesses.
Lead the development of analytics capabilities, and the process to mature & scale capabilities across the business functions. Drive data opportunities in an unconstrained way leveraging first, second, and third party data, with a balance of qualitative and quantitative research, to drive through the gaps of emerging opportunities.
Entrepreneurially identify new areas of focus, building high quality data products, strategic support, and competitive intelligence for energy and EV charging, through products that accentuate items like charge deferral, public charge health, industry forecasting, energy usage, and EV adoption, in support of GM’s 2030 goals.
Senior level engagement to enable a shared vision and strategic collaboration for Global Innovation work; consulting on the right methods across data support, sharing best practices and learnings, across the value identification and realization phases.
This is a global role focused on driving analytics partnership and strategy. This role is an ambassador for the greater Enterprise Data, Analytics and Insights team, and is focused on democratizing data and decisions. You will lead a team and be tasked with their growth and development through instruction, education, coaching and mentorship, amplifying the value and impact that analytics can make across GM.

Essential Qualifications / Requirements
12+ years’ experience in enterprise organizations where analytics, data, and insights filed key growth; Preferred experience leading these teams for a Fortune 500 company.
5+ years’ experience leading analytics teams in multinational/complex settings
Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Information Systems, or similar Mathematical background (required). MBA or Master in adjacent discipline (advantageous)
Proven experience driving decisions with data, both through grit and automation, in strategic planning and innovation environments
Highly collaborative, team player with an ability to lead large cross-functional teams towards common goals, strong culture awareness
Strong digital analytics acumen, robust background in experimentation and measurement frameworks. Previous experience with EV car data, machine learning, predictive modeling and other advanced applications to manage data volume and insight generation velocity.
Knowledge of the technology and government landscape as it relates to the future of data & analytics environment
Ability to break down complex problems
Ability to develop people, skills in coaching, mentoring, and teaching on the job

Remote: The position can be performed remotely from the US most of the time, but the employee may be asked to come on-site approximately four times per year.
Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $225,000- $275,000 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus/Equity Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
