Participate directly in strategy development and business planning of relevant client or business function

• Draft, interpret, and negotiate contracts and templates for relevant commercial transactions

• Collaborating with internal business functions in the management of commercial agreements, IT agreements, and other company agreements

• Develop strong expertise on evolving regulations relevant to client/stakeholder

• Standardize and improve processes

• Managing vendor and supplier relationships

• Provide legal consultation with respect to all aspects of global product development and vehicle safety.

• Draft software, data, and hardware licensing and maintenance agreements

• Identify and implement streamlining improvements in the commercial transaction process to improve business performance and compliance

• Developing training and integrating legal function with business clients

Additional Job Description

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide general legal advice to technical and business teams on the development, delivery, sale, and operation of industry-leading connected technologies delivered through automotive vehicles and other mobile devices with an emphasis on compliance, data protection, and a world class customer experience
• Draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial transactions, with an emphasis on technology and data licensing transactions
• Respond to inquiries from business clients across the organization, with primary focus on GM’s Mexico business, regarding compliance requirements, including consumer protection, and cybersecurity requirements
• Partner with business operations teams to process and respond to consumer and other third party inquiries regarding GM’s retail products and services offered in Mexico
• Review and advise on Spanish language marketing and consumer communications materials, focusing on the Mexico market
• Provide support for GM’s connected technologies in other countries.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience supporting consumer product businesses
• Strong transactions experience with an emphasis on technology and data licensing transactions
• Fluent in both Spanish and English language communications
• Strong understanding of Mexican law with emphasis on Mexico consumer protection laws
• Experience providing legal advice in a fast-paced and innovative global business environment
• Demonstrated ability to motivate others and collaborate with cross-functional teams, as well as the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
• Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to express complex legal matters in clear, concise, business-friendly language
• Ability to efficiently resolve issues and recommend solutions that are legally sound and pragmatic in the context of business goals
• Familiarity with the automotive, technology, connected services, fintech and/or telecommunications industry is a plus

Education Requirements:

• Law degree from an accredited college or university
• Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction in Mexico or the United States
