Additional Job Description

As a software development intern, you will gain experience developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry best practices, in accordance with GM’s software development project methodology.

Under the mentorship of more senior developers, you will work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Development activities will include updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or tackle a particular business problem.

The main technologies being used are Java, Angular, Python, React, and SQL among others. You will work in multi-disciplined, full-stack development teams with a mentor assigned individually to you, making sure you can take advantage of significant hands-on training and real-world Enterprise experience.

Responsibilities

• Coding and debugging applications/solutions in one or more software languages, with a focus on software quality and maintainability
• Demonstrate mastery of at least one programming language, tool and/or technology
• Work closely with more expert IT professionals to gain additional knowledge and expertise
• Assists with Application improvements
• Document software solutions and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards
• Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviours. Models GM behaviours and builds a winning culture.
