Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.
We are influencing the transformation of future transportation with ADAS and Automated Driving! Are you ready to make a difference at GM? The System Capability Engineering Team is passionate about defining, integrating, and testing of Advanced Automated Driving systems and is looking for a System Capability Engineer to help us lead and manage the development and validation of automated driving technologies specific to driver monitoring.
In this position, you will have the chance to support our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) strategy, work at the intersection of hardware, software and automated driving technology, define, develop and execute the Driver State capability for ADAS features and have a hand in the early stages of GM`s next generation vehicles. Key Responsibilities
Participate with, or lead, multi-functional development team discussions with software teams, validation teams, functional safety teams, capability domains, and key partners to ensure alignment with peers and downstream customers.
Analyze and negotiate Driver State Capability related requirements with internal and external stakeholders throughout product development and integration; focus on Capability and Systems performance and lead technical solutions.
Be the hands-on end to end capability owner that will test and triage System level capabilities in simulation and in-vehicle on closed course and real-world scenarios.
Ability to handle agile development approach and quick, fast-paced changes that enable customer facing improvements.
Effective communication of issues and support the ability to solve problems and prioritize/balance workload as they arise.
Apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning, and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains.
Contribute to the development of System DFMEA and the allocation of identified failure modes to execution teams.
Represent the team globally as a key stakeholder to the feature/product.
Additional Job Description
Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science or related technical degree.
3 or more years of experience with automotive or other electronic modules and/or systems engineering
Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements.
Effectively handle multiple priorities while maintaining a dedication to the tasks at hand
Strong technical leadership skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Cumulative travel requirements of 2 to 6 weeks a year.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), Vehicle Dynamics, Automotive Networks, Propulsion, Infotainment (HMI) etc.
Experience in performing system and component level DFMEAs.
Design/Development of safety critical systems/components (ISO26262)
Experience in automotive product release and specification process.
Post graduate degrees are preferred.
Experience with processing large amounts of information, identifying multiple parameters, interdependencies and inconsistencies to provide both high-level systems overview and deep domain expertise.
