Position Title: Facilities Manager
Hours: Full-time, 7:00am- 3:30pm, Mon-Fri typical, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Schedule may vary on a weekly basis due to the changing needs of Museum activities. Occasional weekend and evening shifts may be required.
Reports To: Sr. Director of Operations
Primary Functions: Direct supervision of all facilities staff in day-to-day operations as well as special project works.
Direct Reports: 2 full-time and 2-4 part-time employees
Responsibilities:
Management and Oversight (30%)
Supervision of all departmental employees including scheduling, job assignment, training providing additional work support when the job requires additional staffing
Provide for, schedule and facilitate all necessary training for departmental staff
Insure that the museum continues in compliance with all applicable OSHA, NYS Health Department and local building codes and regulations
Attend meetings and collaborate with colleagues to solve problems
Repair and Maintain the Physical Plant and Grounds (30%)
Repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
Continuously inspect areas for needed repair
Oversee and work to support in the repair, maintenance and upkeep of equipment and vehicles.
Maintain the exterior spaces as per the changing needs of the season, including (but not limited to) snow removal, lawn care, trail maintenance, road grading, etc.
Special Event Support (30%)
Other Duties as assigned (10%)

Working conditions/ physical aspects of the role – for positions that require physical work
Able to climb and work safely from ladders.
Ability to do heavy lifting such as moving tables and furniture, pick up and empty trash receptacles, shoveling snow.
Stand for long periods of time during jobs like parking for special events.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Qualifications and knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of the common components of a physical plant i.e. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.
Experience with repairs and maintenance of equipment and buildings.
Possess at least 3 years of facilities supervisory experience.
Possess a valid, unrestricted NYS driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
Familiarity with of state, municipal and local building codes, fire codes and environmental regulations e.g. pesticide application regulations
Capable of safely and effectively operating a wide range of power equipment.
Ability to train junior staff in all department equipment and all operating procedures.
