The Central Interceptor is a wastewater tunnel that will run between the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Grey Lynn. The 14.7-kilometre-long tunnel will run between 15 and 110 metres below ground. It will cross the Manukau Harbour at about 15 metres under the seabed. Along the route, it will connect to the existing wastewater network, which will divert flows and overflows into the tunnel.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Senior Finance Accountant the successful candidate will provide support with accounting functions including month end close off, accounts payable systems, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all GA-JV accounts payable transactions and the consistent application of expenditure policies and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following.

• Accounts Payable
  • Process all invoices for payment ensuring they are checked, accurate, appropriate, as expected etc. Ensure correct authorisations and coding
  • Data entry of invoices
  • Prepare and resolve creditor enquiries
  • All invoices and direct debits processed accurately, with appropriate authorisations before payment is scheduled
  • Process supplier credit notes
  • All transactions are correctly posted, properly authorised and documented
  • Reconcile supplier accounts on a regular basis
  • Resolve member queries relating to accounts
  • Maintain accounts payable records, files and reports
• Reconciliation of clearing accounts and other balance sheet accounts, as required
• Process journals as required
• Accounts close-off deadlines are met, and the Accounts Payable subsidiary ledger reconciles to the general ledger balance at balance date
• Assist with asset accounting to ensure that all capital purchases are appropriately identified and processed in the fixed accounting ledger
• Raise purchase requisitions, as required
• Assist with tax submissions when required

The successful candidate will have:

• Tertiary accounting and/or finance qualification preferred
• Previous experience working in account payable and accounting roles
• Demonstrated experience working with high levels of accuracy
• Understanding of NZ tax legislation
• Knowledge of working on JDE systems though not essential
