Role Overview

We are seeking an ambitious and driven professional to effectively lead within a fast paced and dynamic environment. Based at our Rocklands Wexford site, the role reports to the Site Manager. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Operations team within Tirlán and play a key role in contributing to the success of the business, by providing challenge and support to the team.

The site is a state-of-the-art Cheese production facility synonymous with producing premium cheddar, with a processing capacity of over 440 million litres per annum, and associated products of concentrated whey, sweet and whey cream.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the milk and cheese plan in line with business strategy, safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership role in the operational management of the Plant, playing a key role in the delivery of the core Plant KPIs

Actively lead and promote a culture of Safety, Compliance, Excellence and Continuous Improvement within the Operations team

Responsible for the execution of the milk production plan and ensuring demands of central planning and customers are met

Responsible for managing Production associated annual financial budgets and targets including labour, materials and chemicals etc.

Plan, organise, and direct optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations

Responsibility for product output, compositions, quality and optimising milk utilisation

Drive production data analysis systems through GPS and MES to deliver continuous improvements and COVI

Drive the plant hygiene standards and audit ready agenda

Manage the Operations team through the shift managers

Collaborate with other site functions H&S, Environmental, QA, Maintenance and Procurement

Responsible for embedding Tirlan values and behaviours amongst Operations team

Embed 3M process in the operations team following GPS and lean principles

Responsible for Production related downtime (CIPs, start-ups, adherence to production schedule)

Accountable for adherence to all quality and EHS systems

Manage Production related contracts

Work with the HR Business Partner to recruit, manage and develop plant staff through training programmes and communication methods

Input to Wexford’s Change Control management system in line with the requirements of the production and quality environment

Key Requirements/Experience:
A third level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology ,Engineering or equivalent required.

3 – 5 years’ management experience in a food, manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment

Strong organisation and planning skills

Knowledge of RCA tools (Root Cause Analysis) and lean manufacturing techniques & MES

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Results driven, customer focused with high performance capability in a fast moving challenging business environment

Strong technical ability and attention to detail

Proven Leadership skills with excellent communication, motivational skills with the ability to motivate and engage the team

Strong analytical ability to analyze data, recognize trends and recommend/implement actions to drive continuous improvement
