Overview

Based in Ballyragget and working with the Applications and UHT Cream teams, the R&D Technician will support NPD UHT Cream projects and a range of Dairy and Plant Application activities for Glanbia Ireland.

This position requires someone that is enthusiastic with a passion for food, attention to detail, a team-player who is pro-active and willing to learn, ideally with food industry experience.

Key Responsibilities: Support the delivery of new concepts through product assessment and benchmarking for new or renovated UHT cream products and ingredient applications. Follow SOPs for internal analysis, SOP Creation and review demonstrating a continuous improvement approach Capturing and communicating detailed data for the purpose of product/application development, documentation, project report preparation and project presentations to project team or wider stakeholders. Conduct functionality, shelf life and sensory analysis for trial product in an organised and timely manner, reporting results to the project team. Testing UHT cream across a range of critical test parameters including whipping functionality, using existing SOPs, cream applications in food and beverages and cream physical stability testing. Support customer feedback, complaints or issues which may arise at short notice. Produce a wide range of ingredient application samples to support customer engagement initiatives. Sourcing raw material where applicable to assist new product development and applications, working with external companies. Support pilot plant and factory trials in compliance with all R&D procedures. Sampling, sample receiving and liaising with external labs or other services to support project delivery. Other relevant tasks to project work as requested by UHT Cream or Applications teams Travel to other Glanbia sites or external services, meetings, conferences as required.

Key Requirements:
A Food Science/Technology or Food related qualification. Ideally 1+ year’s relevant experience in the dairy or food industry. Passionate about food, food applications and NPD. Ability to work in a team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) Be organized in their work with high attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Sense of initiative and ability to investigate and solve problems. Hands on, positive attitude, flexible and adaptable Willing to learn and results orientated.

Full driving licence

Be familiar with basic computer skills and programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
