The Edge Services team at GoDaddy is responsible for developing and managing GoDaddy’s edge networks & content delivery. Our projects are used by hundreds of applications & engineers across all of GoDaddy’s product teams to aid in their mission of helping our small business customers start, grow and run their ventures. We are looking for a strong Backend Engineer with an interest in reliability, automation, & cloud infrastructure to join our team and help deliver a best-in-class experience to GoDaddy engineers and customers. If you have the passion, enthusiasm and ability to create robust edge routing & delivery for customers on their way to making their small businesses great, we would like to talk to you!

Location:

Your manager is in Kirkland, WA but the team is distributed across the United States and even Europe. You can work remotely or from one of our many GoDaddy offices if you would prefer.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Colorado, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

What you’ll get to do…

As a developer on the Edge Services team you will participate in developing features and developer tooling for our edge networks & content delivery for hundreds of engineers across all of GoDaddy’s product teams. You will have the opportunity to help drive and own large initiatives as we maintain our focus on quality and performance for our downstream teams. Projects past and present include, but are not limited to: deploying network routing layers using Envoy, extending Envoy and Istio, improving how we manage our CDNs such as Akamai & CloudFront; many of which were ideated and driven by team members hopefully like you!

In addition to our Edge Services, we like to contribute our experience widely. Many of our team members participate in internal “Guilds” and special interest groups as well as external meetups and conferences, giving presentations on their technical expertise. Additionally we like to contribute code and learnings back to the Open Source community (Check out our GitHub page:http://github.com/godaddy).

Your experience should include…

• Deep mastery of at least one modern programming language: Go, Python, Typescript / JavaScript, Java, C#, etc.

• Experience in DevOps and/or & managing cloud automation such as: building Docker containers and AMIs, deploying to Kubernetes, deploying static sites to Amazon S3, etc.

• Using git and git-based workflows

• Working with highly agile development teams

• Writing great code and creating unit and integration tests that prove it

• Being active in the professional development community for at least 7 years

You might also have…

• Some experience working with automating configuration in edge providers such as Akamai, Fastly, AWS CloudFront, etc.

• Some experience working with administering & extending open source reverse proxies with large ecosystems: HAProxy, nginx, Envoy, Varnish, ATS, etc.

• Some experience targeting Web Assembly using Rust or Go.

• Some experience building and maintaining RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, especially in Node.js

• Experience collaborating with experts across disciplines to design and implement high quality features
