Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with government affairs and policy in the tech or education industry within an in-house corporate policy function/trade association, law firm, consultancy, or government.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a legal, economics, or political science background, and working internationally with high-tech regulators, standards bodies, policymakers, and educators.
- Experience in data privacy, data governance, digital privacy policy, and working cross-functionally with teams in Engineering, Product, and other areas.
- Experience in government affairs, public policy, and knowledge of challenges impacting digital policy, cloud computing, and education technology.
- Experience with the education sector in Europe and with the EU policy-making process.
- Ability to write and translate issues into language suitable for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent judgment and communication skills.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you’ll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You’re passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
As the Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager, you will address policy and regulatory developments relevant for our education efforts in Europe. You will engage with policy stakeholders and third-parties in education across Europe to help inform proposed legislation and public consultations, and share insights on Google Cloud products and services for education.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement policy engagement plans to enhance Google for Education reputation. Support business enablement in the education sector.
- Establish a trusted network of stakeholders and engage with officials, third-parties, and Google Cloud customers to support digital innovation and pro-innovation digital policy in the education sector.
- Conduct an outreach on policy issues pertaining to the adoption of public cloud, education technology, and lead on Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) response to new developments in privacy/data governance in cloud for education.
- Advise businesses on relevant developments in policy and regulation for the education sector that would impact Google for Education.
- Develop content to articulate Google for Education posture on key policy and regulatory topics, including but not limited to user privacy, prepare input for consultations, and lead with intelligence on emerging trends.
