Experience with engagement EU regulators or an in office EU regulator on regulation in the technology space
Experience in an in-house legal department working on content matters
Qualified lawyer eligible to practice law in Ireland
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in litigation
Experience advising stakeholders on areas such as EU eCommerce Directive, CDA, GDPR, ePrivacy and NetzDG
Experience evaluating product impact of proposed regulations like DSA, DMA, and EU AI regulation in partnership with public policy colleagues
Prior law knowledge in platform liability and content moderation/regulation, privacy and security, consumer protection, copyright, and competition
Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once
Ability to apply Google’s risk principles and make risk calls with imperfect information

The Content Legal Team is a business-critical team responsible for central coordination across Legal in advising the company on the influx of content regulations globally, and responsible for thought leadership on some of the most challenging, urgent, and existential questions Google faces related to our content moderation practices and societal impact.
In this role, you’ll work as specialist and product counsel on a team dedicated to overseeing legal analysis, interpretation, and application for compliance with content regulations around the world.

Responsibilities
Partner with Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) on content regulations globally, identifying existing Google systems and process problems, to influence development of regulations.
Work with Regional and other Specialist counsel to identify, track, and analyze draft and passed laws. Partner with other Legal, Product, and Engineering teams to continuously interpret and provide legal advice on content regulations in the context of designing and implementing to meet requirements given on technical/time/user-focused constraints.
Establish initial compliance markers for product design.
Work cross-functionally to ensure awareness and understanding of key regulations. Advise on regulatory engagement strategy, and be a thought leader for Legal on content moderation systems and processes and/or content regulation requirements.
Develop subject matter expertise on content moderation regulations.
