Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software engineering, including managing a team of software engineers.
- Experience with software development in one or more general purpose programming languages.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with technical innovation and leading a team of software engineers in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the application of Machine Learning in product use cases.
- Experience with data analysis, quality, and experimentation.
- Direct experience within mobile app development.
- Experience in successfully bootstrapping new engineering and product areas.
- Experience in shipping large-scale products/capability.

The Urban Mobility team brings the indispensable companion experience to a billion users across Maps to help them get from A to B. Our team owns the Maps directions, navigations, and go experience and our domain experts for urban mobility modes from transit to cycling to walking and many more.
With increased complexity and offerings in transportation and city infrastructure, we are building capabilities that simplify the decision-making and tailor to individual needs to help city locals go places. We are looking to offer solutions that will transform the urban mobility experience and bridge cities and agencies with users to make cities’ transportation better.

Responsibilities
- Develop and grow engineering talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies in a fast growth, highly competitive economic environment.
- Oversee architecture and critical implementations, product and code quality, and use of best practices focused on developing highly scalable systems.
- Develop, track, and communicate progress and risks to technology roadmap, maintaining alignment with product roadmap to various stakeholders while owning development and shipment responsibility for projects.
- Inspire Computer Science teams to innovate, invent, implement, and deploy complex software solutions in a commercial, mission-critical environment.
- Apply Machine Learning domain expertise to guide the team to solve some of the hardest transportation challenges while building highly reliable systems that can scale.
