The Ministry of Environment is seeking a self-motivated individual with strong technical and leadership skills to fill the position of Manager, Air Quality in the Environmental Protection Branch.
This position oversees the air zone management program, participation in the National Air Pollution Surveillance program and implementation of the Canada-wide Air Quality Management System in Saskatchewan. The section provides advice and support on air quality monitoring and modelling and develops provincial air quality standards and guidelines. You will be responsible for leading the development of legislation and guidance documents related to the overall management of air quality issues across the province.
You will represent the ministry on inter-agency committees and develop and maintain effective relations with Federal, Provincial and Territorial agencies, First Nations and Métis groups, industry and Non-Government Environmental Organizations and the public. You will lead section staff through the continued implementation of a results-based regulatory model through technical reviews of Environmental Protection Plans and the continued implementation of the Canada-wide Air Quality Management System.
Our candidate of choice will bring a strong knowledge of environmental management matters related to Saskatchewan industry and the public, as well as knowledge of air management activities required to identify and prevent environmental impacts to the province’s air, land and water resources.
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a degree in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Studies or related discipline with several years directly related experience in a leadership role in the environmental management/protection field.
This position will be located in Regina.
