The Opportunity

The Skills Training Branch, Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant (CSJG) Unit is seeking a creative and highly motivated professional for the position of Senior Policy Analyst, based in Regina to provide leadership on policy and programs related to employer-driven training across the province.

Reporting to the Director of the CSJG Unit, your responsibilities will include:

• Leadership in policy and program research, design and development to support effective program delivery in coordination with legislation, regulation and strategic direction;
• Applying innovative and creative solutions to complex problems by identifying and assessing relevant data, analyzing trends and providing comprehensive analyses of program options and outcomes; advanced skills in Excel are a requirement;
• Developing and sustaining positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; and
• Diplomacy and effective communications skills, as well as advanced writing and analytical skills in order to provide solutions and promote understanding.

The ideal candidate for this role requires:

• An understanding of the CSJG, employer driven training programs, as well as ICT and government programs and services;
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with a range of stakeholders;
• The ability to review, interpret, analyze and evaluate program and financial information and conduct trend analysis to maximize utilization of resources;
• Analytical and research skills to identify issues, opportunities and develop program policy, options and recommendations to address solutions, using advanced writing and analytical skills in order to provide solutions and strategic advice appropriate to the audience; and
• Pro-active problem solving skills, and the ability to identify creative solutions.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a combination of a post-secondary degree in education, public administration, social science, commerce or related fields, and/or related experience in contract management.
