The Provincial Capital Commission, Wascana Centre, is looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and hard-working people to provide outstanding customer service to our visitors. These individuals will transport passengers and cargo to and from Willow Island and conduct guided boat tours around Wascana Lake.

As a seasonal Tour Boat Operator, you will:

• Safely transport passengers and cargo to and from Willow Island on a pontoon boat by determining the number of passengers and amount of cargo to be transported on each trip that will safely comply with Federal Regulations and safety concerns.
• Prepare and conduct a guided boat tour monologue. This includes responding to any public queries that are received during the tour.
• Follow up with renters to confirm requirements.
• Prepare Willow Island site depending on scheduled events.
• Prepare an annual report on summer activities with recommendations for changes.
• Engage the visiting public in an entertaining and informative manner.
• Ensure the information throughout Wascana Centre is current and accessible to the public at all time.

You will need:

• Knowledge of how to operate, dock, and maintain a pontoon boat, how to properly load a pontoon boat, how to operate a pontoon boat in unsettled weather conditions, and how to operate and maintain small equipment (mowers, tillers, etc.).
• Good research skills to gather and provide accurate and timely information.
• Effective communication skills to provide assistance, answer questions, and provide historical and directional information to visitors.
• Strong facilitation skills to deliver guided tours.
• Efficient relationship building skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.

You will have knowledge of:

• Wascana Centre and its history.
• Basic money handling practices.
• Tree and landscape maintenance.

You will be required to obtain a “Small Vessel Operator Proficiency” certificate from Transport Canada (training provided). Hours of work for this position will include evenings and weekends. Typical season will go from May to September.
