The Crops and Irrigation Branch of the Ministry of Agriculture has a challenging opportunity in a fast paced environment for a highly-motivated, organized and confident individual to provide secretarial, receptionist and clerical support. The position will work approximately twenty-five percent of full time hours.
As the successful candidate in this busy office, you will proofread documents and use word processing and spreadsheet software to create, edit and format a variety of letters, memos, briefing notes and cabinet documents under tight deadlines. You will be required to accurately enter information into a database, receive, sort and distribute incoming mail and file documents on a daily basis. As well, you will have an understanding of basic accounting principles and will be required to accurately perform mathematical calculations to balance financial and statistical information. You will respond to inquiries made in person or by telephone from government agencies, clients and the general public. You will also troubleshoot, maintain, and/or arrange for repair of a variety of office equipment.
Our candidate of choice will be a strong team player, a self starter and have strong computer skills to create accurate, visually pleasing documents using a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Sharepoint. You will have effective office management practices and procedures. You will require the ability to accurately complete multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines with multiple reporting relationships. You will bring good communication skills both verbally and written to respond to inquiries from the public and other government branches and ministries.

Typically, qualifications for this position would be obtained through a diploma in office education or office administration, and/or related experience.
