The Fish, Wildlife and Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment is seeking a highly-organized, motivated individual to provide a wide range of administrative and support functions in the Regina location as an Administrative Assistant.
In this position, the primary responsibilities include:
providing support to professional staff by planning/coordinating meetings, travel arrangements and organizing conference calls;
formatting, editing and word processing correspondence including confidential briefing notes and ministerial correspondence;
client service and reception service including providing information to both walk-in and telephone clients; tracking and processing work unit expenditures;
data entry in various computer applications; acquisition of office supplies/equipment and other administrative functions; and
time management skills and attention to detail is esstential in managing a demanding and changing workload while ensuring quality work and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding and knowledge of:
office and administrative procedures coupled with a high- level skill in word processing, electronic mail systems and spreadsheets;
government procedures and protocols regarding financial processes, correspondence, Cabinet and various documents is an asset;
organizing and prioritizing your workload, take initiative to identify and resolve problems, and independently manage several tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines is critical to the success of this position; and
being approachable and respectful when dealing with stakeholders, the public and government organizations.
Typically the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through formal office administration training supplemented by relevant experience in an office environment.
