The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan requires a positive, highly-motivated Financial Officer for a term position until March 2023. The successful applicant will be self-motivated, organized, thorough and attentive to detail and will play an essential role in providing a wide range of financial services such as:

• providing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, asset management and preparation of GST and PST returns, quarterly financial statements and year-end financial statements;
• developing simple financial models for financial projections for use in short and long-term planning;
• developing, implementing and maintaining budgeting and financial accounting procedures, cost-benefit analysis and asset management;
• monitoring accounting and financial activities of administrative staff, also providing training, guidance and analysis to staff;
• performing regular bank account reconciliations;
• developing, implementing and maintaining the procedures for effective financial management, ensuring maintenance of accounting records; ensures suitable policies, controls and standards are in place. Investigates, develops, recommends and implements financial process and procedure system improvements; and
• responsibility for verification, account coding and administration of P-cards; streamlining accounting procedures and improving efficiencies.

Typically, knowledge is obtained through completion of a recognized accounting program (i.e. university degree, accounting certificate or diploma, professional accounting designation) or a combination of relevant training and several years’ experience in the accounting field or equivalent. Knowledge of Sage 300 accounting software and MIDAS is an asset.

The successful candidate will be a positive team player with the ability to establish effective work relationships, juggle multiple priorities, and show sound judgment when dealing with confidential information.
