About the Team
Let us tell you about our Business Partner Model approach to client service. Our Business Partners support their clients to ensure alignment between a client’s business operations and HR practices and strategic objectives. In this role, Human Resource Business Partners use their consultation skills to build strong business relationships with management teams and serve as a key advisor to enable sound human resource management practices and decisions.
To support our Business Partners in helping to meet client needs, our model encourages partnerships with staff in our Centres of Excellence and Human Resource Service Centre who have deep expertise in specialized areas of HR which include: Employee and Labour Relations, Total Rewards, Integrated Health, Safety and Wellness, Talent, Organizational Development, HR Pay Management, Payroll and Benefits. Our model supports a one team approach in delivering exceptional human resource consulting services to our client ministries.
The Opportunity
The Public Service Commission is seeking analytical, resourceful, results-oriented human resource professionals to join our team as Human Resource Business Partners for 12-18 month terms. Joining one of our eight Business Partner Teams, you will work collaboratively and strategically with ministry clients by developing human resource solutions that support the achievement of ministry’s goals.
As a Human Resource Business Partner, you will:
Build strong working relationships with senior leaders in your assigned client portfolio to learn their business and proactively offer strategies to meet their current, emerging and future human resource needs;
Collaborate with internal subject matter experts in order to provide the innovative solution in such areas as labour relations, talent acquisition and organizational development including providing best practice advice on accommodations, grievance handling, performance management and organizational change; and
Work closely with team members on projects and or committees to advance the Public Service Commission initiatives and strategies.

Ideal Candidate
You are an agile, confident, action-oriented individual who builds strong relationships who is an influential communicator that is able to:
Draw upon your human resource experience and knowledge in order to develop solutions in the areas of labour relations, talent acquisition, organizational development and performance management;
Listen actively and objectively in order to understand facts and pertinent information;
Analyze, interpret and research information in order to develop innovative solution to meet client shifting priorities;
Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies and communicate possible outcomes;
Strategically and proactively align human resource plans to support the achievement of ministry goals; and
Develop and foster strong collaborative relationships in order to build agreement for human resource recommendations and strategies.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through:
A Bachelor’s degree specializing in human resource management;
Generalist experience in areas such as organizational development, employee labour relations, recruitment, job evaluation and performance management practices; and or
An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered. A CPHR or IPMA-CP/CS or equivalent designation would be an asset.
