An opportunity exists within the Ministry of Highways for a results-oriented individual to join Southern Operation and Maintenance as an Office Coordinator. We offer a challenging and supportive work environment where you will play a key role in supporting Ministry operations.
This position is located at 221 Winnipeg Street North in Regina, and reports to the Assistant Administration Manager. This role supports all staff and various branches, with the primary responsibilities being to managing telecommunication needs; coordinating the use and repair of Central Vehicle Agency (CVA) vehicles; purchasing of required apparel, equipment and furniture; helping coordinate office construction or moves, and other office-related tasks.
The successful candidate will regularly deal with individuals within the Ministry, SaskTel, SaskBuilds and Procurement, and others, and will require knowledge of office procedures. You will have strong client service skills to effectively meet the operational needs of the Ministry. This position requires an exceptional work rapport with co-workers and outside clients to establish effective relationships.
You will have knowledge of office administrative procedures, policy and protocols; accounting processes, procedures, and practices; and government purchasing and payment practices. Knowledge of office equipment, asset management and material acquisitions; records retention policies and procedures and filing systems; and relevant legislation, regulations, acts, agreements, policies and/or procedures is also required. You will also have knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, accounting, purchasing, operating systems and others; and computer hardware and peripherals.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through an office administration course along with progressively responsible related experience. Strong computer skills are a necessity to access information quickly and to accurately enter data. A valid class 5 driver’s licence is required.
