The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, Pine Grove Correctional Centre is seeking a skilled, self-directed, and motivated individual to perform maintenance and minor repair work within the facility, ground maintenance and upkeep outside the Centre. Supervising the work of adult female offenders, you will provide instruction in the application of your trade. Knowledge and experience in general maintenance responsibilities is a definite asset.

Job duties may include snow removal of the facilities recreation areas, and walkways, landscape maintenance and general facility grounds upkeep. Maintenance and installation/removal and repair of Center appliances, supervision of outside contractors and agencies completing work within the facility and other job-related tasks as assigned by the Deputy Director of Standards and Communication.

To be successful in this position, you must be able to work independently and have strong organizational skills. You must have keen leadership skills, providing direction and guidance to inmates in the completion of their daily duties. The employer will provide additional training in the use of static and dynamic security.

Typically, to qualify you must have knowledge and experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of commercial-sized equipment and related attachments; and knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance of small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and knowledge of dangerous chemicals is also required.

Must hold a Class 5 license and the ability to operate a handheld radio and related equipment.

Proof of current First Aid and CPR Certification must be present within 3 month of employment date.
