The Ministry of Education provides leadership and direction to the early years, pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 education, family literacy and library services. The ministry supports the sector through funding, governance and accountability, with a focus on improving student achievement.
The Student and Educator Services Unit of the Ministry of Education is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented individual to join our team as a Support Desk Specialist. This unit is responsible for administering the provincial legislation, regulations and policies with respect to Student and Educator Services in the Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 (PreK-12) school system. Student and Educator Services Unit is supporting both.
The successful candidate will:
maintain and support the official ministry system of record, Student Data System (SDS), and the sector provincial student information system, MySchoolSask/MonÉcoleSask (MSS/MÉS);
identify errors and support XML error resolution with electronic file transfers between the two systems;
extract and analyze sector data imports for readiness and error resolution;
coordinate the integration file transfer between the systems;
triage and respond to requests for application support;
initiate escalation to various ministry support levels as required;
contribute to the development and maintenance of application documents like training manuals, user guides and knowledge-based articles;
administer SDS and MSS/MÉS ministry and Level 1 sector security access;
train and educate users on applications as required; and,
advise on changes or enhancements to the provincial student information system.
Our candidate of choice will be innovative and have excellent problem solving and analytical skills, as well as superior communication skills to relay complex issues clearly and credibly. You will be able to work independently as well as on a variety of teams. The knowledge required for this position is typically obtained through the completion of a Business Administration Certificate or diploma. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of the PreK-12 education system in Saskatchewan and/or student information systems are considered an asset.
French/English bilingualism is considered an asset.
