Job Posting for Full Time Fire District Secretary at Greenlawn Fire District
The Greenlawn Fire District is seeking to hire an individual to fill a responsible clerical position distinguished by the confidential nature of its duties.
First consideration for hiring to this position shall be given to qualified applicants who are residents of the Greenlawn Fire District.
ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
– Attendance at all meetings of the district and taking minutes of the proceedings
and maintaining them in the official minutes book of the district.
– Posting legal notices as required by law.
– Distributing and handling of all correspondence.
– Arranging and monitoring the district’s annual and special elections
– Management of all insurance policies and insurance claims of the district.
– Management and reporting for the District’s Length of Service Award Program.
– Act as the Record Management Officer of the Greenlawn Fire District
– Assist with grant writing and administration.
– Data Entry into all District Computer System Applications.
– Manage all department members records.
– Coordinate annual medicals for department members.
– In the District Treasurer’s absence, preparation, and disbursement of payroll,
including federal and state withholding taxes, union dues, contributions to the
NYS Retirement System and NYS Deferred Compensation Plan.
– In the District Treasurer’s absence, preparation, and payment of accounts
payable, and preparation of all accounts receivables.
– Work with Chiefs and Officers as assigned by the Board.
– Additional duties assigned by the Board of Fire Commissioners
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
– Five Years Experience in Administrative Assistant duties. (Required)
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
– Must be able to manage multiple and varied tasks throughout the day.
– Must be a notary public at the time of hiring or become one during the
probationary period of employment.
– Proficiency required in Microsoft Word, with accurate typing, as well as Excel and
Outlook.
BENEFITS:
Full Time Position – 40 Hours per week.
$28.00-$30.00/hour (Commensurate with experience)
