The Packaging Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining packaging equipment which places our finished bulk product into finished packaging and shipping components.
GSK Oak Hill produces over 5 million tubes of toothpaste a week and the Packaging Technician role plays a key part in getting finished products ready for consumers and customers. Additionally, being a part of the Packaging Team allows the opportunity for career growth with a self-driven skills development program providing promotional opportunities both within the department and site.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
Ensures quality and safety of all manufacturing activities
Performs weighing of raw materials
Operation of various manufacturing and processing equipment, including large mixers, vacuum pumps, and manufacturing systems configured to aid in the automation process for making bulk products
Perform preventative maintenance to respective workspace
Cleaning manufacturing equipment, parts, and production area, focusing on safety and quality compliance
Ability to work with powders (i.e. Supersacks, Sack Tip) and prepare detergent solutions
Perform material dispensing and manual additional
Conduct inventory control processes of raw materials and products
Ability to perform basic operating computer system transactions associated with tasks listed above
Understand and comply with all pertinent operating procedures, work instructions, forms and documentation, and good manufacturing practice guidelines
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work 12 hour shifts, every other weekend off
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Manufacturing or Production environment experience
Experience with equipment/machinery maintenance and changeovers
