As a part of the underwriting organization, the Rating & Quoting Associate III will serve as one of the first points of contact for sales staff and brokers when a Request for Proposal (RFP) is received. The Rating & Quoting Associate III leverages industry and local market knowledge, working in concert with underwriting and distribution partners to evaluate plan designs and product packages to develop accurate manual rates.
The Rating & Quoting Associate III is critical to Guardian’s long term profitable growth, managing the processing and distributing of proposals, and responding to inquiries from brokers, sales staff, and underwriters.
You will
Discuss and make recommendations about RFP, plan design options, rate options, and multi-line options with sales staff and underwriters.
Collaborate with sales professionals and partner with underwriting staff to negotiate rates, terms, and conditions.
Build strong relationships with sales representatives, underwriters, brokers, and their staff, to ensure that customer needs are met while maintaining profitability and adherence to risk guidelines.
Generate proposals by applying Guardian and competitor information to rate, re-rate, quote, and re-quote competitive proposals, based upon specifications in the RFP, internal guidelines, and/or discussions/negotiations with sales and underwriting staff.
Participate in ad hoc project work focused on continuous improvement, specific to rating quality and efficiency.
Build and support maintenance of rating partnerships.
Support and adapt to workflow development and changes.
You have
AA/AS or BA/BS preferred.
2+ years Group Insurance experience, preferably in an underwriting or sales support function.
Excellent communication and listening skills with ability facilitate discussions among sales staff, underwriting and other key partners.
Excellent customer service soft skills.
Intermediate math/analytical skills.
Planning and organization skills; ability to multi-task while working independently.
Ability to handle challenging priorities.
Excellent time management skills.
Strong consultative, negotiation, persuasion and influencing skills with a sales orientation.
Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships at all levels.
Personal accountability (goal oriented and meets processing goals, etc.).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Proficient in CPS.

Salary Range
$41,060.00 – $61,595.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
