Responsibilities
The Remote Outpatient Coding Compliance Coordinator organizes, maintains and analyzes results from outpatient chart reviews for adherence to compliant documentation. Performs review of selected charts from SMART Compliance tool to validate coding accuracy. Provides feedback to coders and may provide reports involving coding and documentation activities and other related tasks as requested by management.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
Analyzes documentation and coding based on official coding guidelines.
Generates SMART software tools as requested
Reviews medical records flagged in PwC SMART software for patterns of coding errors and opportunities for coder/or clinical education.
Initiates corrective action to ensure resolution of problem areas identified during an internal investigation or auditing and monitoring activity.
Serves as a technical expert/resource for department managers, staff, physicians, administration, and external customers to provide information of clarification on accurate and ethical coding and documentation standards, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Serves as back-up for coding supervisor when needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associates Degree from an accredited Health Information Management Program and at least 6 months of related experience OR an equivalent combination of relevant eduation and/or experience
CCS and extensive experience OR CCS (and RHIT or RHIA) from AHIMA
Mastery pf OCD-10 CM/PCS and HCPCS/;CPT
Advanced computer skills
