The team
- The Technology & Operations Division is a team of approximately 400 people who come together to deliver a ‘Members First’ service experience each day to Aware Super’s 1.1 million Members, clients, employers, and advisers. The scope of the division includes the Service Centre and all superannuation and insurance member administrative services. The team also deliver enterprise-wide services across Member Experience, Complaints, Technology and Continuous Improvement.
- IT Service Delivery is responsible for the development and daily delivery of ITSM related services, including but not limited to our ITIL governed processes; Incident, Request, Problem, Change, Configuration, Service Design, Asset, IT Service Continuity, Transition Management, Operational Service Reporting, the Service Desk function and ServiceNow technology.

- Join the team as a consultant-engineer responsible for the design and technical implementation of Azure cloud solutions, private cloud and 3rd party SaaS integration. Automate the provisioning of Azure cloud services and deploy application configurations. We have a focus on operational stability and project delivery including design, planning, build/implementation and operational transition.
- This role reports to the Senior Systems Engineer Lead the decision maker in several key deliverables.
- The role works with internal departments to elicit requirements and define solution options to support the successful delivery of projects across the organization.
- The role works with external suppliers to ensure critical delivery of technology capabilities across the business.

Role responsibilities
Operations Support
- Respond to incidents and resolve issues escalated by the service desk team in a timely manner
- Assist with the management and support of Cloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS)
- Monitoring the overall performance of systems to assess the need for updates, upgrades enhancements, preventive maintenance, and new systems
- Assist managing and monitoring cloud environments to ensure availability and resiliency to supporting the platforms servicing our Members and staff
- Identify and engineer TOIL out of our systems. Respond to TOIL with automated solutions to ensure reliability and stability of our platforms.
- Provide recommendation and implementation support to the team and other business units for Microsoft Azure solutions and tools
Automate Provisioning & Configuration of the Cloud
- Automate the delivery and configuration of Azure Cloud Services using Azure DevOps pipelines
- Automate software Installation, configuration and ongoing operations using Azure DevOps pipeline
- Maintain and improve the Cloud Platforms DevOps scaffolding code and pipelines to ensure optimal efficiency and security
- Automate monitoring and observability of all new solutions
- Ability to engage with external vendors to identity solutions for automating and configuring 3rd party software packages and SaaS services
Infrastructure design & Consulting
- Complete detailed technical designs of Azure Cloud Services, including the automation and provisioning of resource and application services
- Operate as a consultant-engineer. Advise and guide Product Architects and DevOps engineers to appropriate solutions
- Visibly demonstrate how the design, build and operations of Azure cloud solutions follow best practice

Knowledge, technical capabilities, qualifications and accreditations
People and leadership
- 2 years + cloud networking/system administration experience in Azure
- 5 years + System administration in Windows and Linux environments
- Professional certification (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps, MCSA, MCSE)
- Experience in cloud migrations and operations, Azure Infrastructure, Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, Office365, VMware, Windows Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies and environment
- Strong and practical knowledge of provisioning and maintaining Azure cloud services using Terraform
- Expert experience of working with a range of Azure Cloud Services – PaaS, Serverless, IaaS.
- Strong understanding of IT security principles and controls in cloud environments
- Knowledge of GitHub and Azure DevOps pipeline deployments
- Strong knowledge using Powershell for advanced configuration management of Azure resource, and integration of Powershell into the Azure pipelines
- Strong knowledge with orchestration & configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, PowerShell DSC)
- Demonstrable experience building and maintaining platform observability solutions using native Azure services and 3rd party solutions – Azure Analytics Workspace, Dashboards, Monitor & PowerBi
- Ability to ensure all servers are managed to increase reliability, availability, performance, security, and compliance.
- Experience administering objects in Active Directory, Azure AD, ADFS and Exchange 2016 / Exchange On-line.
- Deeply curious about the practices of DevOps, SRE and the role of Infrastructure Developers
