Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for a casual position of Civic Event Support Coordinator in Parks and Recreation. The Civic Events Support Coordinator will be required to assist with research, planning, and implementation of several HRM summer event programs. These could include: Summer Concert Series in both Halifax and Dartmouth, Canada Day, Natal Day, Bedford Days, Clam Harbour Beach Sandcastle Competition, Hopscotch, etc.). The Coordinator will be also be required to work with volunteer event committees leading up to the event, as well as on event day. 50% of the responsibilities for this position are considered to be office work focused on administrative tasks required to plan an event, and the other 50% will be focused on event delivery. Civic Events Support Coordinator will be required to work weekends including holidays within the 35 hour work week throughout July and August.

WORK STATUS: Seasonal
HOURS OF WORK: Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, 35 hours/week. Weekend and holiday work is mandatory and will be set within the 35- hour work week once the event schedule for the summer is confirmed.
SALARY: Non-Union – $17.00 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay) for 19 weeks.
START DATE: Monday May 1st, 2023
WORK LOCATION: 1st Floor 40 Alderney Drive, and various event sites (Grand Parade, Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park, Clam Harbour Beach etc.).
