Harvard University Hiring for Faculty Assistant at Boston, MA Full Time

We are seeking a Faculty Assistant to support the lab of Dr. Norbert Perrimon in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. This position provides administrative support to the Investigator and research staff in a fast-paced environment.

Dr. Perrimon’s lab researches how cells, tissues, and organs communicate during development – a thorough understanding of these events can help elucidate how different tissues and cell types integrate within an organ, and how complex phenotypes arise in animals. Due to the large scale of the lab, the ideal candidate is someone who can answer many questions and provide broad support for all lab staff. This role is well suited for a natural problem-solver, who is not afraid to ask questions, and has a strong ability to build networks. The Faculty Assistant will work closely with the Grant Manager. Experience with academic research laboratories is a plus.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support to the Investigator and ~50 lab members
• Prepare administrative materials for grant applications and progress reports such as biosketches, budget justifications, and other support documents
• Assist HR with hiring and on-boarding personnel for positions within the lab
• Arrange travel for Dr. Perrimon
• Process reimbursements
• Order lab supplies and arrange for equipment maintenance
• Track grant and HHMI expenditures. Coordinate with Grants Manager to facilitate efficient spending patterns that align with available funds and ensure compliance with NIH regulations
• Serve as key liaison with HMS departments and HHMI
• Manage lab website
• Assist with publication submissions
• Prepare and monitor material transfer agreements
• Process shipping labels and associated import / export information
• Prepare slides and presentations for meetings and publications
• Draft letters and correspondence

Three or more years of related experience. Education beyond high school may count toward years of experience.

This is a one-year term position with possibility for extension, contingent on work performance and continued funding for the position.

Full Time schedule is 35 hours/week | Monday-Friday | 9:00am to 5:00pm. The lab is open to considering part-time or full-time arrangements for this position with the potential for 3 to 5 days per week with some flexibility for hours.
