Prospect Management:
Develop and manage the framework of a dynamic prospect development program, including strategic planning, policies and procedures for prospect portfolio management, monitoring tools and reports, and training and supporting fundraising staff.
Strategize and confer with senior leaders to develop and implement a research-driven prospect management and tracking program to help guide the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospective donors in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
Work closely with fundraising staff, senior leadership, and internal clients to understand their informational and business needs and develop innovative solutions to address moves management and fundraising strategies.
Implement semiannual portfolio reviews with FAS fundraisers to assure portfolios are filled with the most promising prospects, balanced by fundraising stage, age, capacity, inclination and other indicators in an effort to maximize return on fundraising efforts.
Work with staff to create and ensure timely delivery of major gift fundraising activity, pipeline, and ad hoc reports to unit leaders and senior leadership.
Create a process to analyze development officer portfolios and set standards for quality control with the goal of placing the right prospects with the right gift officers, optimizing the distribution of constituents to maximize gift yield.
Provide leadership and guidance related to best practices for prospect development and relationship management, serving as a resource to fundraising managers and answering questions regarding prospect tracking and portfolio analysis.
Synthesize and analyze prospect data, conduct and review audits, and monitor data integrity for the purpose of improving the quality of the prospect-specific data.
Utilize lessons learned through FAS prospect management implementation to guide our clients and partner schools to develop successful prospect management systems and implementations
Analytics:
Work with external and internal analysts to build a suite of statistical tools and data mining techniques to analyze constituencies, predict their behaviors, and make organizational decisions by evaluating current and past prospect performance and projecting future performance.
Develop standards for maintaining analytics codes in Advance to track and utilize predictive modeling scores.
Oversee the use of various software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS) to analyze the data, synthesize findings, and share results through clear and action-oriented communication with fundraisers and senior leaders.

Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) comprises the University Development Office (UDO), Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Development, AA&D Resources, and the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA). There is a unique relationship between the University and the FAS fundraising operations, resulting from a long history in which University fundraising ultimately grew out of College fundraising.

AA&D Resources encompasses teams that support all units across AA&D plus all schools and units across the University. AA&D Resources includes Technology and Support Services, Business Process and Operations, Alumni and Development Services (ADS), Administration and Finance, Events, Communications Creative Services, Research and Prospect Management, Human Resources, and the AA&D Talent Program.
Summary:
The Managing Director of Prospect Management is an integral member of the Research and Prospect Management team is responsible for creating, implementing and managing the prospect management, prospect pipeline and analysis functions for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) and the University Development Office (UDO) and schools. Working closely with senior leaders in these areas, the Managing Director will provide key support and analysis to inform prospect strategy and assignment management for fundraisers and senior managers. role is to develop policies and processes to ensure successful implementation of prospect management activity. Working in collaboration with the Business Intelligence and Operations teams, the Managing Director will work to conceptualize, design and manage data analytics projects using a variety of data mining, statistical analysis, peer benchmarking or other assessment techniques, assuring that data is accurately recorded and maintained and upholds policies and processes.
General
• Manage a best-in-class prospect management program, setting overall strategy and designing and
implementing training, prospect management guidelines, and policies that increase the effectiveness of
fundraising objectives.
• Assist senior leadership in developing and implementing methods of measuring and stimulating
individual and organizational performance.
Create accurate, high-quality, and actionable presentations that include insight and analysis that combines research and analytics findings, with a focus on effectively communicating and informing the strategies of fundraising efforts.
Work closely with Development departments (Major Gifts, Harvard College Fund, Business Intelligence and Operations) to coordinate projects. Serve on internal committees and project teams and as an effective project manager on cross-team projects related to prospect development/management.
Work closely with other departments across AA&D to coordinate projects and leverage best practices.
