Harvard University Hiring for Research Assistant II Non-Lab at Boston, MA Full Time

The mission of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences is to understand and intervene on the social determinants of health and health equity across the life-course.

The Research Assistant will support a variety of projects related to the social determinants of health across the life course. The position will mainly focus on data analyses (for grants and research studies) and manuscript development.

The Research Assistant will provide support to Dr. David Williams and Dr. Natalie Slopen.

Duties and responsibilities for each principle investigator (separately) will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conduct weighted generalized linear regression models using nationally representative data
• Utilize census-linked data to model the relationship between area-level deprivation and non-communicable disease outcomes
• Employ multiple imputation techniques for missing data
• Assist with manuscripts and submission to peer-reviewed journals
• Summarize analyses and present key findings to research collaborators to guide their manuscript contributions
• The Research Assistant may also contribute to literature searches to support the project and provide assistance with IRB compliance and proposals to access new data
• Other duties as assigned

PLEASE NOTE: This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position with a schedule of 20 hours/week, with the possibility of increasing up to 30 hours per week.

PLEASE NOTE: The position has a term end date of one years from date of hire, with the possibility for extension.

PLEASE NOTE: The primary work location for this position is Boston, MA and in order to be on Harvard payroll, you must reside in one of the following states – MA, NH, RI, ME, CT, VT, NY, or MD. We are also working primarily remotely at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Until our return to campus, this interview process and position will be conducted virtually – including virtual interviews, remote onboarding, and remote work. The remote nature of this position is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required as a condition of continued employment once the School and this role return to an operational status that supports it. The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health will support flexible work schedules upon this return, subject to individual departments’ business needs.

• 2+ years of related work experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered
• Basic programming skills in SAS, Stata, or R required

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with statistical analyses using large and complex population-based probability samples
• Attention to detail
• Statistical programming skills
• Strong written communication skills
