Taitara Mahi – Environmental Health Officer

Parental Leave Cover, 12 month Fixed term full-time

Hastings District Council’s Environmental Health team plays an important role in contributing to community safety, by ensuring food, alcohol and other businesses fulfil the legal requirements governing their standards of service.

The Council is seeking an Environmental Health Officer for a full time, fixed term Parental Leave cover position.

The role includes responding to and investigating complaints, monitoring business premises and ensuring compliance with the laws and bylaws relating to environmental health.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A tertiary qualification which meets the requirements of the Environmental Health Officers Regulations 1993.
• Experience and knowledge in working under the food licensing framework.
• Good computer skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Sound judgement and decision making skills.
• A commitment to customer service, team work and continuous improvement.
• A current and valid New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
