Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications
At least two years experience working in one or more of the following fields: drug user health, substance use and/or harm reduction; experience working with coalitions and/or stakeholder groups at a local and/or community level; At least one year of experience in coordinating groups and teams across disciplines and programs; At least one year experience in developing and operationalizing performance and outcome measures; At least one year of experience preparing and/or writing reports to document program progress.
Responsibilities
The Health Program Coordinator I will be responsible for managing and monitoring local health departments, syringe exchange programs and drug user health hubs contracts across New York State to address the health needs of people who use drugs. The incumbent will negotiate budgets and workplans, provide oversight of program implementation, monitor agency activities and quality improvement efforts, and the oversee the provision of technical assistance to enhance contractors’ effectiveness, efficiencies, efficacies and outcomes related to funded services. The incumbent will review monthly narrative, fiscal and data reports and conduct site visits to observe agencies’ functioning and client satisfaction with services. In addition, this individual will be responsible to review and recommend approval of applications submitted through Requests for Applications/Proposals issued by the AIDS Institute. The incumbent will also review and recommend approval of renewal applications. The incumbent will also be responsible for written reports; other related duties. Other responsibilities include: coordinating regional meetings and calls, and development of resources and educational materials. Other related duties as assigned.

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
