GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assists with all activities for the school and community-based health education program, Generation With Promise (GWP), under direction from the GWP Program Manager and Senior Project Coordinator. Responsibilities include providing nutrition education and physical activity promotion targeting youth and families eligible for supplemental nutrition assistance education (SNAP-Ed) in underserved school and community settings, assisting with facilitation of groups and sessions focused on nutrition/physical activity promotion as assigned, and participating in GWP team meetings. Ability to cultivate relationships with schools, students, and community and faith-based organizations through speaking engagements, nutrition education and physical activity promotion presentations and other activities, as well as providing nutrition education training to students, adults and teachers, as required. This position may be responsible for implementing the PE-Nut program and/or supporting Student Action Teams. Additional responsibilities include assisting in project activities focusing on school and community-based health programming with particular emphasis on programming addressing reduction of health & healthcare disparities; and assisting with presentations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Nutrition, Health Administration or a closely-related field (or a bachelor’s degree in another field and the equivalent experience in a related field) as well as one to two years of experience in coordinating health initiatives with youth, school-based or community projects, after-school programming, and/or parent programs. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience compiling nutrition education and physical activity promotion curricula and materials, coordinating taste testings and cooking demonstrations, working with school administrators, teachers and students, coordinating meetings, and collaborating with partners is preferred.
