Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring a secure and fiscally accurate comprehensive pay and benefits service for Home and Community Care Support Services Toronto Central including the maintenance of the payroll, human resources and scheduling system, the administration and processing of benefits, and the maintenance of related regulatory reporting and other functions.

• Supports bi-weekly payroll and benefits (such as calculations of premiums, overtime) by entering data, checking calculations, cross checking overtime etc.
• Processes information on hires, transfers, leaves, terminations, and wage adjustments.
• Verifies the accuracy of payroll inputted data through routine audits and checking the work of others.
• Administers benefits programs such as medical, dental, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term disability, long term disability and registered pension plan (HOOPP).
• Assists in reconciling monthly statements for Canada Revenue Agency, Employer Health Tax, Union Dues, WSIB and benefit plans.
• Responds to staff and management inquiries regarding pay and benefit issues
• Filing and maintenance of employee records.

What must you have?

• At least one year experience in payroll and benefits or some other transferable administrative duties.
• Working knowledge of payroll requirements, including CRA payroll rules, year-end reporting, EHT, WSIB etc.
• Familiarity with Collective Agreements, as well as related legislation such as Employment Standards Act.
• Advanced computer skills and the ability to use a variety of software programs (including MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and databases (payroll, human resources and scheduling).
• Demonstrated ability to data enter information with extreme accuracy under time constraints.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and sound professional judgment when responding to matters concerning highly sensitive and confidential personal information.
• Proficient in a Windows environment
• We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, all employees are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination status prior to start date
