The House of Commons Human Resources is currently looking to staff the HR Support Officer position.
The Organization:
The House of Commons Human Resources Services provides a range of HR advice, support and other services to the House Administration, Members of Parliament and their staff. HRS is a diverse team offering expertise in several areas of human resources management, including recruitment and selection; learning and organizational development; official languages, language training and assessment; pay and benefits; labour relations; occupational health, safety and environment; HR systems; classification; and respectful workplace programs.
About the Role:
The HR Support Officer is accountable for administering data management processes to ensure the ongoing, timely and accurate maintenance of HR and organizational related data pertaining to House of Commons employees and to the offices of Members of Parliament and their staff. The HR Support Officer receives and prepares documentation relating to organizational management, position management, employee/employment actions and departure requests/actions, and verifies and inputs data/information as well as files documentation (paper and e-filing) accordingly. The incumbent is responsible for responding to various inquiries via phone and email from both House Administration and Members of Parliament, ensuring quick and professional solutions to inquiries or proper and efficient escalation as required.
The Ideal Person:
The HR Support Officer needs to have an analytical mind and a strong problem-solver. The ideal person is autonomous and is able to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders. The role requires a keen eye for attention to detail because they must ensure sound quality assurance in various HR systems. A skilled candidate will collaborate with team members and take a client-centric approach to all incoming requests.

The purpose of this recruitment and selection process is to staff the position of HR Support Officer on a long-term basis and to create a pool of potential candidates that may be considered to staff future vacancies for this position or for other similar and/or related positions on an indeterminate and/or determinate basis. Successful candidates that are awarded a long-term determinate position or have been retained in the pool may be considered for an indeterminate HR Support position when they become available. Potential candidates may be considered for other temporary or indeterminate positions requiring similar experience and competencies at the House of Commons. Consideration may be given to candidates with other linguistic profiles.
