About our company: Howard Beach Cardiovascular Center is a Cardiology and Internal Medical office committed to providing excellent medical care. Medical Front desk position must have experience answering phones as we have a high call volume and with insurance verification, referrals etc. We are looking for a full time certified Medical Assistant, with familiarity with medical terminology who can also work the back if the need arises to join our team. We care about our patients and we care about our staff.
We seek a highly reliable and highly competent individual who is pleasant to work with and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This is primarily a front desk position, though at times the candidate may be dedicated to providing medical care to patients by supporting and assisting the doctor and physician assistants on staff. One late evening per week may be required. The candidate must have have experience with insurance verification and referrals, and must know how to enter insurance information correctly. The candidate must be pleasant when answering phones and have the ability to remain calm while handling a busy call volume. Experience a must. Fluency in Spanish is a must.
Duties include:
Front desk duties – answering phones in a pleasant manner, help checking patients in, insurance verification and eligibility and referrals if needed, etc.
Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies, upon doctor or PA approval.
If working the back duties include: show patients to exam rooms and prepare them for physician/PA examination by performing preliminary physical tests as indicated such as blood pressure and EKG. Collect blood and/or other laboratory specimens, label them and prepare them for testing.
Document all information collected and services provided including vaccine information and vial lot number.
Prepare exam rooms and keep them clean and well stocked.
Strict adherence to OSHA and HIPPA guidelines.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED required.
Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school.
Proficiency in medical terminology and HIPPA guidelines.
Knowledge of computers and willing to learn our medical record system.
Must be flexible, thoughtful and an excellent team player. Experience preferred but we are willing to train qualified recent graduates. Knowledge of Spanish is a strong plus.
