The Role
If you genuinely care about people and are willing to do what it takes to keep them safe, then this role is for you! Joining our supportive, successful team based in Auckland, Sydney or Melbourne, this key role will help drive our purpose and ensure we are ready for anything!
Being there to provide specialist Safety and Wellbeing direction and support aligned to IAG Safety and Wellbeing policies, procedures, frameworks and plans to IAG leaders and their teams. You’ll help to create a safe and inclusive work environment where our people can perform their work safely as you focus on continuous improvement to enhance IAG’s safety and wellbeing performance and culture journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Championing IAG’s purpose and delivering a high performing culture, that is customer-centric, people-focused and risk-intelligent which is role modelled through our values and behaviours
- Providing specialist technical advice and recommend practical solutions to safety and wellbeing business operational issues and matters in line with People and Culture tiered service delivery model
- Identifying safety risks and partnering with the business to develop and implement effective and sustainable safety risk management solutions
- Briefing and consulting with internal stakeholders, Safety & Wellbeing Champions to gain business commitment for implementation of safety and wellbeing initiatives
- Providing relevant, insightful and timely reporting to enable stakeholders to have visibility of safety and wellbeing performance, trends and opportunities.
- Enabling effective Leadership decisions through the provision of people related safety & wellbeing advice that is compliant with internal and external regulatory frameworks, and ensures the safety and wellbeing of our people in the workplace
- Promoting a positive Safety and wellbeing culture through the development and implementation of programs/initiatives that build manager and employee capability in safety and wellbeing as they bring people on the journey
Skills & Experience
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ workplace health and safety experience within a corporate environment (experience within the insurance industry would be ideal!)
- Tertiary qualification/s in Work, Health and Safety is essential
- Proven experience in the development, implementation and delivery of innovative and contemporary safety initiatives as part of an integrated, cohesive safety management system
- Demonstrated ability to liaise, advise and negotiate effectively with key stakeholders including management, employees, industrial organisations and external agencies/partners on safety issues
- Experience in providing trusted technical safety & wellbeing advice, expertise and guidance to all levels of the business
- Experience in facilitating employee engagement in safety & wellbeing risk management
- Strong time management, organisational and prioritisation skills
- Attention to detail and accurate analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and in emergency response situations
