The Tax Commission Revenue Operations division has two Technical Records Specialist 1 (TRS1) positions open in Revenue Operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with their coworkers to achieve our daily deadlines and department goals. Revenue Operations strives to create a welcoming and productive work environment where our staff will have opportunities to learn, engage with each other, and develop their career goals.
The qualified candidate will work within an engaging office environment performing a variety of tasks requiring entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system, operating mail opening machinery, p rocessing returns and items related to a variety of tax types including phone, email, and letter correspondence with taxpayers and their representatives, as well as mentoring, training, and presenting to groups of people. Candidate must be able to follow verbal and written procedures ensuring accuracy and compliance with rules, regulations and/or policies.
The Resource Team is a unique work environment as they facilitate the hiring of temporary employees for Tax Season work and our new hire training program.

Responsibilities:
Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries
Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments
Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information
Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, payments, and/or documents
Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedures Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external
Access, maintain, and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports
Communicate with taxpayers and/or preparers by telephone, email, and/or other written correspondence
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system
