About the opportunity
Based in Sydenham, this is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in helping our branches in the Upper South Island to deliver on their customers’ expectations for the purchasing and delivery of materials for their projects. A varied role, this position will see you working in the warehouse, organising inwards and outwards goods for the project department. A portion of your time will also be spent working alongside the Area Contracts Manager coordinating projects for the branch and liaising with customers regarding the status/delivery of their projects.
A broad role, the warehousing aspects of your role will involve maintaining stock levels for potential projects and orders, receiving, and despatching goods, maintaining the health, safety and general upkeep of the warehouse area, working through the process for any faulty goods and credit-related queries, resolving discrepancies on purchase orders and processing orders accurately and on time.
Our preferred candidate will understand customer requirements based on project quotes and any specifications provided at the time. Taking ownership of the coordination of projects, you will also need to identify stock availability and source product – factoring in time frames for despatch and arrival of goods to meet tight project deadlines. Your ability to liaise and build rapport with customers and suppliers will be vital in following-up outstanding products, purchase orders and maintaining off-site claims.
About you
You will have 2-3 years’ experience in the warehouse area – and enjoy the physical aspects of the role (including some heavy lifting and loading/unloading of goods). Perhaps you’re a Sparky with experience in coordinating projects, or at the very least – having worked with customers in the trade in a customer-facing role (preferably in the electrical wholesaling industry). Your strong time management and problem-solving skills will help you prioritise this busy and varied role, and your attention to detail will help you successfully manage the coordination of projects from start to finish.
This role requires someone with excellent verbal and written communication, the ability to work well under pressure with exceptional attention to detail, and the capability to convert specifications, quotations, and customer orders into successful projects for all parties.
