An exciting opportunity has arisen for an administrator, preferably with experience of working in a research/academic/education environment, within the Interdisciplinary Science in Health Doctoral Training Partnership (MultiSci MRC DTP). Our cross-Faculty training partnership aims to provide a unique training environment to foster the development of a new class of scientist, and attract the best students to provide them with a high-quality experience that is inclusive, outward looking and responsive.

The Postgraduate Administrator will work within a busy central team, led by the Postgraduate Education Manager, that supports the Section Head and Faculty Lead for Doctoral Degrees to set up and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the MultiSci MRC DTP. This will include organising cohort training events, administering recruitment and selection processes, providing data for external reporting, and managing student records.

Duties and responsibilities

You will manage and support the running of the MultiSci MRC DTP, acting as the main point of contact across College and ensuring that information is timely and accurate. This includes planning for the new student intakes, service managing the MultiSci Leadership Team Meetings, student pre-enrolment activities, induction and student/supervisor queries. You will also provide clear finance and studentship information to host academic departments and provide quantitative and qualitative data for reporting purposes.

Essential requirements

• Educated to Degree level, or equivalent relevant experience in a similar or related role(s), demonstrating development through a series of progressively more demanding work/roles.
• The role requires proactive and independent working practices to establish effective working relationships with colleagues in the Faculty’s departments as well as networking across College.
• Strong operational knowledge of some areas relating to this role.
• High level of expertise in using MS Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Outlook and Word)
• Capacity to navigate difficult situations and conflicting views with tact and diplomacy, while having patience to complete tasks thoroughly and achieve necessary outcomes.
• Able to work independently and as part of a larger team in a large and complex organisation, working collaboratively with colleagues, displaying a professional attitude at all times.
