ING Bank (Australia) Hiring for Lead Software Engineer Job at Sydney, Australia Full Time

As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll alternatively contribute to one of our squads and work in a cross-tribe role driving advancement in our engineering practices. You’ll lead by example and coach others to develop and test robust, adaptable code that is always production-ready.

Reporting to the Chapter Lead – Engineering, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of Mortgage products and services that are at the core of our business and forefront of digital banking in Australia.

Apply your skills in leading software engineering practices to create new features and improvements throughout our technology stack, from UI to backend processing and integrations with our core banking and other systems.

What are you going to do? You will be…

• Working along the full lifecycle of software engineering from idea to production.
• Building full stack solutions including DB, services and User interface.
• Writing code that is easy to read, highly maintainable and written with automated testing in mind.
• Setting the standard for effective documentation and communication of knowledge, systems and processes.
• Embedding and improving an agile and continuous delivery way of working.
• Coaching and mentoring other engineers and chapter members.
• A role model in the development of your own capability across industry trends, technologies, methodologies and behaviors.
• Successful in delivering solutions that meet the needs of our internal and external customers.

What are we looking for? Someone who has…

• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership for software applications and projects with exceptional influencing and negotiation skills.
• 8+ year’s software engineering experience working in Java tech stack, delivering on a complex platform including continuous integration / continuous deployment within an agile environment.
• Hands-on experience in API related activities: requirement analysis, design, resource based API modelling, micro-services architecture.
• Previous experience in Banking or Financial domains, preferably in mortgages.
• Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes and OCP Platform.
• Good practical knowledge of design of RDBMS and SQL.
• Demonstrated experience and proficient understanding of tools across full software delivery lifecycle, e.g. IDE, source control, CI, test, mocking, work tracking, defect management.
