Wage range: $25 – $27/hour to start
(bonus possible after the first year)
This is a 32-hour-per-week contractor position (not an employee), with the flexibility to work more during busy times and a lot less over the
slower summer period.
Position Duties
Manage all aspects of IGA courses and events, including planning, managing, marketing, developing, administrating, and overseeing programs, instructors, suppliers, and partners.
Implement courses and events marketing and sales plan.
Liaise with course instructors, suppliers, funding organizations, and students.
Manage program budgets and finances
Create, plan and organize professional development programs and events.
Organize file systems, policies, and procedures relating to courses and programming.
Develop course implementation and procedures manual
Maintain confidential records for the organization
Be the face of the IGA in the Canadian Rockies – Canmore area
Perform other related duties in accordance with instructions from the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong computer skills, including:
MS Office (specifically: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
WordPress, WordPress plugins
Online services such as MailChimp, Survey Monkey, Google
Drive, Gmail, Canva, etc
Social media savvy
Impeccable administration and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently as a contractor and set own schedule and work plan
Solutions-oriented: able to troubleshoot problems and find solutions
Self-motivated, creative, and extremely detail-oriented
Must have a solid working laptop computer with up-to-date software including word processing (MS Word or Pages), spreadsheet (Excel or Numbers), presentation (PowerPoint or
Keynote).
Must be comfortable working as a contractor from home with an adequate (workable) home office situation and access to a printer.
Must have a functional cell phone.
Must have a good understanding of the Interpretive Guides
Association’s goals, objectives, courses, and certifications.
A good understanding of non-profit organizations, interpretive guiding, and the guiding industry in Canada and beyond is an asset.
Preference will be given to individuals who are certified by the
IGA or have actively worked as a guide in the tourism industry.
