Fixed-Term Part-Time
It’s an exciting time to be in Invercargill and join a future focused Council.
Waihōpai Invercargill is New Zealand’s southernmost city and the heart and hub of Southland. We’re known for our lush green spaces like Queens Park, our long summer daylight hours, and our local legend Burt Munro. Our city has character, charm, and a laidback atmosphere. There’s outstanding nature reserves, Ōreti Beach, the Waihōpai River, a lively restaurant scene and a sensible gridded layout with wide streets and a 10-minute drive to work.
We are in a chapter of immense growth, building a vibrant city centre and reinvigorating our culture and spaces, and this is an exciting time to join a Council that is focused on the future of our people and our city.
Invercargill City Council are seeking a self-motivated and well-organised administrator to join our existing People and Capability team on a six-month fixed-term basis. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week, generally 4 hours per day Monday to Friday, however, we can be flexible with the days and hours for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Business Partner – People and Capability, this newly created position entails high-quality, efficient, and professional administrative support to the People and Capability team including scanning, document management, recruitment support, and data entry.
Our ideal candidate will have a NCEA Level 3 in English, Mathematics, and Computing or equivalent along with demonstrated experience in an administrative support position. You will have outstanding attention to detail, a high level of initiative, and the ability to prioritise maintaining strict adherence to established systems, policies, and procedures.
We are looking for a team player, someone who likes to have a laugh but also holds an outstanding work ethic and commitment to confidentiality and discretion. Your proactive approach, good level of energy, and willingness to help out where needed will be crucial to your success in this role.
At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values – positivity, respect, responsibility, and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.
