The Role
Cloud engineers are responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the cloud based hosting platforms, predominantly in AWS. These systems minimise operational risks, infrastructure overhead, and enable the broader organisation to deliver high-impact application-level functionality to internal and external customers. The Cloud Engineer role will suit someone with some experience in cloud engineering who is looking for experience to move towards a Senior Cloud Engineer role.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform guided software development and process automation tasks to improve functionality, efficiency, and reliability.
- Develop an understanding of automated and manual delivery processes as applied within the organisation.
- Assist in the investigation, support, and resolution of issues as they arise.
- Review and extend training and documentation resources.
- Ensure compliance with process and policies.
To Be Successful in This Role You Will Possess
- Foundational software development training such as:
- Computer science or engineering degree
- Current cloud certification
- Equivalent industry experience
- Programming languages – Python, Ansible, shell scripting
- Diagnosing software faults.
- Awareness of client/server software, REST-style APIs, virtual machines, and containers
- Familiar with command-line interfaces.
- Test automation skills or frameworks.
- Aptitude for written communication and technical documentation.
- Infrastructure knowledge; basic networking, running virtual machines, software containers.
- Linux server experience preferred.
