AJP Enterprises (DBA: Jack in the Box, Arby’s, Jimmy John’s) are looking for a qualified Payroll Clerk to assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation in the company. You will undertake a variety of tasks such as entering payroll information, calculating wages, and making payments.
An excellent payroll clerk has great understanding of the concept of confidentiality. You will be experienced in entering data with attention to detail and will have good math skills to make the necessary calculations. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication abilities.
The goal is to carry out all payroll procedures with speed and accuracy.
Responsibilities
· Perform daily payroll department operations.
· Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
· Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees.
· Calculate pay according to hours worked, incorporating leaves and overtime.
· Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
· Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll.
· Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
· Load import files received from HR (Medical)
· Research and email appropriate audience of file issues.
· Assists the HR Manager with employee/personnel projects to include mailings, monthly reports & various HR tasks.
· Participates in benefits administration to include open enrollment activities, making changes as need, monthly plan administration and auditing
· Manage and calculate taxes and deductions.
· Conduct file audit for compliance and form tracking systems to maintain compliance.
· Conducts the administration of all Unemployment Hearings, Workers Compensation Claims process, and all other state and federal mandated programs.
· Maintain communication with established and future clients to ensure proper billing occurs.
· Perform daily payroll activities (adjustments, payroll processing, and accounts receivable/payable.)
· Input, audit and transmit payroll.
· Provide employment references to third parties and provide support to the payroll department as needed.
· Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
· Fosters a working environment that is both safe and professional.
· Timely and prompt follow-up with employees or management regarding issues or matters of concern.
Requirements and skills
· Previous experience processing at least 1,000-person payroll.
· Minimum 3 years payroll experience.
· Experience running multiple payroll platforms.
· Understanding of basic payroll rules/ laws
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
· Able to process garnishments.
· Guest service experience required.
· Able to work well with others.
· Extremely organized with a keen eye for attention to detail
· Exceptional time management.
· Willing to help others, someone that gets true joy out of seeing other succeed.
· Action oriented and self-motived while maintaining adherence to company policy.
· Team Player! And not just on paper.
· Excellent interpersonal skill, able to work effectively in changing environments with a full range of personalities and work styles.
· Must be willing to do other general administrative items, including, filing, auditing as well as some Accounts Payable tasks.
· Knowledge of general office practices, systems, policies and procedures and the ability to appropriately apply the information in specific situations.
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with aptitude in problem-solving.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentially in all aspects of the job.
